Your whole smart home.
One private system.

Local-first smart-home design for new homes

Brightgate brings compatible lighting, climate, locks, sensors and everyday controls into one simple dashboard. Your core system runs locally inside your home — giving you faster control, greater privacy and continued operation if the internet goes down.

Runs Locally Core controls and automations operate inside your home, with supported devices continuing without internet.
One Dashboard Fewer apps, accounts and disconnected systems to manage every day.
Private by Design Your household activity stays at home where possible, rather than being routinely sent to a vendor cloud.

Fewer apps. Clearer control.

A typical smart home becomes a collection of separate apps and settings. Brightgate brings the essentials into one clear dashboard and keeps the system documented.

Without Brightgate Standard
Five apps, ten remotes Lights have one app, AC another, the lock has its own. Controlling your house means a tour of your phone.
Simple tasks take too many taps Turning off a group of lights or checking a door can mean opening several different apps.
Each upgrade is a fresh project Add a new device and you've got another app, another login, and no clear way to make it work with the rest of the home.
No one owns the handover After you move in, many devices can have their own setup process and support path. The smart-home layer is left for you to piece together.
With Brightgate Planned
One dashboard for your agreed devices. Lighting, climate, locks, blinds and sensors can be brought into one private dashboard, with secure remote access where configured.
Shortcuts for common actions Useful shortcuts are kept deliberate: a few simple buttons for lights, comfort and lock status.
Open, documented and flexible An open platform that works across brands, with clear device records and dashboard notes — new gear joins the same system instead of starting another silo.
Set up, documented, supported Your dashboard, device list and handover notes are set up before you settle in, with optional reliability support afterwards.

Why Brightgate

An open platform, built to avoid single-brand lock-in.

Local-first, flexible and brand-agnostic: a smart-home layer that runs in your home, on a stable device network, and grows with you instead of locking you in.

🏠

Local server first

Your system runs on a small server inside your home — not someone else's cloud. Controls respond quickly on the local network, your data stays private, and lights, climate and scenes keep working even when the internet doesn't.

📶

A stable Zigbee + Wi-Fi network

Devices join a dedicated Zigbee mesh and a properly planned Wi-Fi network — bench-tested before install day. Stability is engineered in, not hoped for.

🔓

No lock-in to proprietary gear

Built on an open platform that works with a wide range of compatible devices across selected brands. If a better supported switch, sensor or camera comes along, it can join the same system — no ecosystem tax, no forced replacements. Your hardware remains yours.

🧩

Flexible by design

Start with the rooms and devices that matter now and extend later — new devices join the same dashboard and shortcuts instead of arriving with yet another app.

🛠️

Customise it — if you want to

Happy to tinker? The platform is fully open: build your own automations and dashboards on top of our documented setup. An optional AI-enabled interface can help you make changes by describing what you want, with sensible guardrails. Prefer hands-off? We handle the setup and keep it straightforward to use.

🌏

Perth-based, remote-friendly support

We understand local builds, ducted AC and new-home handovers — and most issues can be checked securely from our end, so you are not booking a visit for every small adjustment.

FAQ

Common questions

Your main smart-home controls are set up inside your home where possible, so everyday controls are not dependent on a separate app account. If the power goes out, the system restarts when power returns. If you have the support plan, we check in if anything needs attention once you're back online.
New builds are our focus because the best smart-home outcomes happen when the system is planned before handover. We may still help with recently completed homes where the wiring, network and device choices are compatible.
Not at all. Licensed trades install the agreed hardwired devices, while Brightgate configures, tests and supports the completed system. We set up your dashboard and keep the controls straightforward. With the System Reliability Plan, our team handles updates, fixes and small adjustments for you.
It covers regular health checks, remote support where possible, software updates, backup checks, small setup adjustments and quarterly reviews. It does not cover physical security monitoring, CCTV surveillance, alarm response, or device warranty claims from manufacturers.
Yes, as much or as little as you like. The system is built on an open platform, so capable owners can create their own automations, dashboards and scenes on top of our documented setup. We can also enable an optional AI assistant interface that helps with changes in plain English, with sensible guardrails. And if you'd rather not touch settings, the System Reliability Plan covers agreed adjustments for you.
No. Your system is based on an open platform with broad compatibility — there is no proprietary ecosystem to be trapped in. We recommend and support a tested range of reliable devices, document your setup, and make sure the hardware and the system remain yours. The optional reliability plan can be cancelled with notice.
Yes. We can set up secure remote access so you can use your dashboard from your phone, tablet or laptop while away. We handle the technical setup for you.
We're upfront about our boundaries. We don't install unsupported devices, build custom one-off systems, or offer security monitoring, CCTV surveillance, or alarm response. Electrical wiring and regulated security work are performed by qualified trades.
We work with a tested range of reliable brands. If you already own compatible devices, we'll include them where practical. If something is outside our supported range, we'll let you know upfront whether it can be included.
